Image Group says no to blogs
Couldn’t resist this one. The Image Group’s lavishly produced quarterly newsletter has a nice article on corporate blogs where the writer poses the question, “would Channel Islanders read the daily ramblings of a local CEO? The answer is probably not.”
I do like it when the competition is racing ahead like this. Judging by the feedback from this blog, and the blogs of my customers, I think the Channel Islands is more than ready for its businesses to start interacting.
It will be interesting to see whether Image are monitoring their company in the blogosphere - if so, I look forward to receiving their comments here.

Hi Phil
Let me know if you got my Blog on this, as I don’t see a response, plus frustratingly it only allowed 300 words

Hi David
Got your comment, but not your blog?
Phil
Hi Phil
My observation about the Image group view is that as far as I am concerned all the evidence gives the complete opposite view. Blogging allows small businesses to show off their knowledge and expertise to a potential audience size that they could only have dreamt about, and for free!

Hi Phil!
I’m delighted to see that you have read the Image newsletter. Sorry for this delayed response, but I’ve been away.
I’m always pleased to see people commenting on things I’ve written. However, I think you may have misinterpreted the message of the article.
I am a supporter of people like David and yourself who blog. However, I am sceptical of those CEOs writing a poorly disgiused sales spiel. Companies who seek to genuinely engage with their customers through a blog will, as the article says, “succeed long term by meeting and understanding the real needs of their customers.”
That view is supported by a recent
Gartner report which suggested that the number of blogs will level out at 100 million in 2007.
I believe that trend indicates a switch from quantity to quality amongst the blogging community.
I hope your blog continues to go from strength to strength and do please keep reading our newsletter!
Hi Steve
Fair point. Glad you’re monitoring blogs as well!
The great thing about the democracy of blogs is that good ones will float to the surface, and bad ones (like the CEO sales spiels you mention) will remain unread.
Best regards
Phil.
