Dunells.com - great online wine store
Webreality has just launched a new e-commerce site for Dunells Wine Merchants in Jersey. It’s an exceptionally good site, and particular credit must go to Dale Broadhead, and the whole WR team.
What makes this site a Purple Cow is the online strategy, the site has an integrated blog from Neil Pinel, and the mixed case concept comes with tasting notes designed to introduce new wines to customers, and then there’s lots of offline activity with tasting events and a list of establishments on the Island where you can drink Dunells wine. Enjoy!
£100 for a tennis ball??
Congratulations to Gilly, Giles, Natalie and Mark for shouting Webreality at Internet World 2008. If you were lucky enough to stop by the stand and collected a More Hits tennis ball, you can mail it to me at Webreality.co.uk, and I’ll buy it from you for £100.
Baldy riffs with THE bald guy
I had the immense pleasure of spending the day with Seth Godin in New York today. You guess from reading his books that Seth will be energetic, approachable and genuinely nice, and you wouldn’t be guessing wrong. Seth donated the proceeds from today’s seminar to Acumen, so at $2000 a head, I reckon Seth donated $100,000, which gives you some measure of the man. And at $2000 a head you’d expect the seminar attendees to be quite exceptional, and they were. Individuals ranged from significant online web app providers to a Brazilian TV magnate. Discussion was varied, but there were definite Seth themes. At the heart of Seth’s doctrine is the new industrial revolution. We’ve moved from the 1950s TV marketing - factory production model (average ad, sells average product to Mr Average). And now we’re in a ‘remarkable permission complex‘. The best brands have permission to talk to their consumers (think Apple - iPod - iPhone).
Seth sliced and diced his way through every business represented on the day, and for Webreality this meant more focus on verticals (using our core techology to deliver very targeted solutions) and leveraging our Adword technology. Webreality’s position at the heart of ecommerce and emarketing in Jersey, does give us opportunity to deliver more traction for our customers - more thoughts to follow! For now, back to the sights and sounds of New York; a city which has just the right amount of energy!
Adwords Manager - tax free?
We’re just in the process of launching our new Adwords Manager. It’s currently in beta mode, and we’re looking for skilled Adwords users who’d like to give it a spin. We’ll give you free sign-up in return, and we’ll credit any burnt adword spend, so you’ve got nothing to lose.Jersey is outside of the EU, so we’re able to book Adwords tax-free, which is particularly helpful if you’re in the EU, and a consumer or a small business under the VAT threshold. Google Europe is headquartered in Dublin, so wherever you are you’ll pay 21%, unless you use us. But our Purple Cow is that Tax Free Adwords will do more than save you tax. We’ve written a bulk uploader that works a bit like mail merge. We can merge your data into your own Adword templates, so you can produce really targeted Ads for each product in your catalog. For example ….Hewlett Packard 57, £17.99 becomesHP 57 Printer CartridgeOnly £17.99 for Genuine HP Ink+ 5% Off Orders of 2 or More!www.day2dayshop.comTax Free Adwords will then add appropriate keywords, and link your ad directly back to the product page. Quite cool really. There’s loads more, but in the meantime if you’d like to beta-test and let me know what you think I’d be very grateful.
Google and Yahoo win for Duke of Normandie
Mark Evans at Webreality SEO is delighted with the recent SEO work he has carried out for the Duke of Normandie in Guernsey. When Webreality created the site, the Duke had zero search engine visibility. After two months of Mark’s efforts, the Duke is now page 2 on Google for ‘hotels in Guernsey’, and page 1, position 1, on yahoo.co.uk.
Spiral Tree Blog
Sarah Taylor has launched her new blog for Spiral Tree. It’s a perfect companion to her new WR site www.thespiraltree.com .Apart from giving Sarah a big plug - she’s done amazing relaxation work with the WR team - I’m posting this here as a great example of good (ethical) SEO technique. Sarah will build traffic for her site through the blog, but the site carries sign-up opportunities for courses, and will in due course allow pay-for digital downloads. This combined approach delivers value for existing clients, builds clients locally, and builds an entirely new global market. Delicious.
Webreality News
It’s been pretty busy on the recruitment drive at Webreality HQ. We’re delighted to have appointed Sanne Terry to run project management in Jersey.Sanne has worked as a web project manager in the past five years both in Belgium and in Scandinavia. She has an MSc in IT and E-business from the University of Copenhagen, and has competencies in e-business, web management, communications and business excellence. We’re also beefing out the support team in Jersey, which will be headed by David Barton. David’s an experienced operations manager, having worked most recently for Sandpiper CI (formerly Le Riche), and Thresher Group in the UK. His considerable client and project managment skills will be used to drive forward a new programme of support excellence. This work will form the bedrock of what we do in the UK.Which brings us onto the UK expansion plans. We’re very close to announcing the new MD for Webreality Birmingham, and Webreality London will be opening in March 08, and will be managed by Gilly Challinor. So, all in all, it’s been a busy time. We’re really excited about the team - it really does underline our commitment to doing our very best for all of our clients.
